Europe’s ERA-NET Bioenergy has launched its 9th Joint Call for Research and Development Proposals.
The call is intended to promote the coordination and cooperation of national/regional research activities in the area of integrated bioenergy concepts.
The organization notes projects to be awarded in this call are expected to focus on added value of energy uses of bioenergy including biofuels for transport.
Projects submitted to the programme are allowed to focus on different bioenergy value chains or energy uses, such as heating/cooling, electricity, or transport biofuels. However, economic, environmental and social sustainability issues of the concept/value chain, must also be addressed in their proposals.
ERA-NET Bioenergy encourages the applicants to keep in mind the concepts should enable full or improved usage of the raw material and/or focus on utilising residues, by-products and other raw materials that minimise competition with food production.
The call is also open for concepts that integrate the production of a range of different products/intermediates, such as chemicals or compound materials, but they should focus primarily on energy applications.
