In the realm of prepaid electricity meters, encountering a tamper condition can be a source of frustration for consumers. However, fear not, as there are steps that can be taken to rectify this issue and restore functionality to your Hexing prepaid electricity meter.

PLEASE NOTE: The tamper codes are specific to your meter. It is a special token that only works on that meter, and has to be “vended” based on the serial number of the meter. Unfortunately, only your supplier can help you.

Why can I only get a tamper code reset from my supplier/payment processor?

The reset token is usually generated by an algorithm for your meter (ie specific to the serial number of the meter), and your supplier will have to “vend” such a token to clear the condition.

These essential steps are required to clear a tamper condition on a Hexing prepaid electricity meter:

Step 1: Identify the Tamper Condition

The first step in resolving a tamper condition on a Hexing prepaid electricity meter is to identify the specific nature of the tamper. This could include issues such as a broken seal, unauthorized access, or any form of interference with the meter.

Step 2: Contact Customer Support

If you are unsure about the nature of the tamper condition or how to proceed, it is advisable to contact Straton Prepaid. They will be able to guide you through the process and offer assistance. Have your meter number ready.

Step 3: Obtain the Tamper Reset Code

In some cases, clearing a tamper condition on a Hexing meter may require a tamper reset code. This code is provided by Straton Prepaid and is essential for resetting the meter. We will issue a 20 digit tamper reset code. Depending on when the tamper reset code is asked for you can expect a wait of 15 minutes to 48 hours as the reset is a factory generated one and only available in normal office hours.

Step 4: Enter the Tamper Reset Code

Once you have obtained the 20 digit tamper reset code, follow the instructions provided by Straton Prepaid to enter the code into the Hexing meter. This action will initiate the reset process and clear the tamper condition. The normal steps are to ensure that he meter cover is closed, enter the 20 digit tamper code followed by the red enter button.

Step 5: Verify Meter Functionality

After entering the tamper reset code, it is important to verify that the meter is functioning correctly. Check to ensure that the display is showing the correct information and that the meter is registering electricity usage accurately.

Step 6: Seal the Meter

To prevent future tampering issues, make sure to seal the Hexing meter properly. This will help maintain the integrity of the meter and avoid any further tamper conditions in the future.
